Coverage matches the single-country plans on the Australia and New Zealand pages. Expect gaps in the Australian outback, on long stretches of highway between towns, in Fiordland and on parts of the South Island's west coast. Pacific island nations such as Fiji, Samoa and Papua New Guinea are not on this plan.

Which countries does the Oceania eSIM cover?

Australia and New Zealand. The covered list is shown in the app before you buy.

Do I need to change anything when I fly between Australia and New Zealand?

No. Keep data roaming on for the FairSIM line and your phone joins a partner network in the other country a minute or two after you switch off airplane mode.

Which networks will I be on?

Telstra or Optus in Australia, Spark or Vodafone in New Zealand. The phone selects automatically based on signal.

Do I get 5G?

Yes on Optus in Australia and on Spark and Vodafone in New Zealand, where 5G is built and your phone supports it. Elsewhere you get 4G LTE.

Will it work in the outback or on remote South Island roads?

Mobile coverage in both countries follows highways and towns. Long remote stretches have no signal from any network, so download offline maps before you drive.

Is the Oceania plan better than two single-country plans?

If you are visiting both countries, yes, it is simpler and usually cheaper than buying and installing one plan for each. For a trip to only one country, use the Australia or New Zealand page.

Can I make phone calls with it?

It is a data-only plan. Use WhatsApp, FaceTime or another calling app over data.

How much data do I need for two weeks across both countries?

Around 10 GB covers maps, driving directions, bookings, messaging and photos. Closer to 20 GB if you stream or work along the way.

What is an eSIM?

A SIM card built into your phone. Instead of a plastic chip, you download a profile. Every iPhone since the XS has one next to the physical SIM slot, so your home number stays put while FairSIM supplies the data.

Is my phone compatible?

FairSIM works with eSIM-compatible, carrier-unlocked iPhones: the XS, XR and everything newer, on iOS 17.4 or later for the one-tap install with no QR code. iPhones bought in mainland China do not support eSIM at all, even when unlocked. When should I install my eSIM?

Before you travel, while you still have Wi-Fi. Installing does not start your plan; the validity typically starts when the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination.

Do FairSIM eSIMs come with a phone number?

No. FairSIM eSIMs are data-only by design, which keeps costs low. For calls and texts, your physical SIM stays active so you keep your existing number, and WhatsApp, FaceTime and iMessage work over data.
