Connectivity tips for Jersey
Install the eSIM at home over Wi-Fi and turn the line on when you land. Validity normally starts at the first connection to the Jersey network.
Do not assume your UK or EU plan covers Jersey. It is a Crown Dependency outside both, and many tariffs bill the Channel Islands separately.
Check Jersey Met tide tables before walking the causeway to Elizabeth Castle or out to Seymour Tower. The tidal range here is one of the largest in the world and the water comes in fast.
The island speed limit is 40 mph maximum, lower in villages, and Green Lanes are 15 mph with priority to walkers, cyclists and horses.
Learn "filter in turn" at the yellow-line junctions: one car from each approach, in turn, no forcing.
Parking in most public car parks uses pre-paid paycards. Buy them in advance at the airport, post office or a shop, since machines are not the norm.
Buy an AvanchiCard for LibertyBus if you are staying more than a day or two; it is cheaper than paying cash on board.
Spend or change Jersey banknotes before you leave. They are not legal tender in the UK, even though sterling works fine here.

- WhatsApp how tour operators, taxi firms, boat trips and restaurants confirm with you.
- Komoot or AllTrails the coastal path, Railway Walk and Green Lane routes, with offline maps for the cliffs.
- easyJet, British Airways or Blue Islands your flight home, and the first place a delay shows up.
- Banking and card apps for contactless everywhere and for the codes your home bank sends to your usual number.
Uber and Bolt do not operate in Jersey. Taxis come from ranks in St Helier and at the airport or by calling a local firm, and buses all run through Liberation Station. Hire cars and e-bikes are the usual way around.
Can you rely on free Wi-Fi?
Jersey has excellent fixed broadband, with full-fibre to homes across the island, so hotel, café and pub Wi-Fi is usually quick when you can get on it. The airport, the Elizabeth Terminal, the library and many St Helier venues offer free guest networks. What you will not have is Wi-Fi on the coastal path, at St Ouen's Bay, in the Green Lanes, on a boat to Les Écréhous or mid-crossing to Guernsey, and those are exactly the places where you want tide times, a map or a phone call. Treat Wi-Fi as a bonus in town and the eSIM as the thing you actually rely on.
Local SIM card or eSIM in Jersey?
JT, Sure and Airtel-Vodafone all sell pay-as-you-go SIMs on the island, mostly from shops in St Helier and the retail units at the airport. There is no round-the-clock SIM counter meeting every flight and ferry the way there is in a big airport hub, and opening hours in town follow shop hours. For a two or three-night break, that is most of a morning spent on an errand. Prepay bundle prices change often enough that we will not quote them here.

Does eSIM work in Jersey?

Which network will my Jersey eSIM use?
JT, the island's own operator. That is the only host network for FairSIM plans in Jersey.
Is there 5G in Jersey?

Is Jersey included in my UK mobile plan?

Does EU roaming cover Jersey?
