Caribbean eSIM

Caribbean trips move around. A week in Barbados, a catamaran to Saint Lucia, a short flight to Antigua, then a few days in Jamaica on the way home. Buying a tourist SIM at each airport means new numbers, new top-up shops and time lost at arrivals. Roaming charges from a US, UK or European carrier add up fast in this region, and the islands are often priced outside the usual bundles.

Coverage follows the towns, coasts and resort areas on each island and matches the single-country plans on those pages. The usual gaps are interior rainforest and mountain roads in Jamaica, Dominica and Haiti, the inland stretches of Guyana and Suriname, and open water. Ferries and cruise ships between islands use satellite links that no eSIM reaches, so expect a dead zone until you dock. The Bahamas, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands and Guadeloupe are not on this plan and have their own pages.

Which destinations does the Caribbean eSIM cover?

Do I need to change anything when I fly to the next island?

No. Keep data roaming on for the FairSIM line and your phone joins the partner network on arrival, usually within a minute or two of landing.

Does it work on a cruise?

In port and near shore, yes. At sea the ship uses satellite, which no eSIM covers, so plan on being offline between islands unless you buy the ship's own package.

Is the Caribbean plan cheaper than a single-island plan?

Per gigabyte, a single-island plan is usually a little lower. If your trip touches two or more of the covered destinations, the regional plan costs less overall and saves you installing several profiles.

Do I get 5G?

On ALTICE in the Dominican Republic and Digicel in the Cayman Islands where 5G is live. Everywhere else on this plan it is 4G LTE.

Are the Bahamas, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands included?

No. They are not on this plan. Each has its own destination page and plan in the app.

How much data do I need for two weeks of island hopping?

Around 10 GB covers maps, messaging, flight and ferry apps, and photo uploads across several islands. Choose 20 GB or unlimited if you stream or work from the beach.

Can I keep my home number for calls and texts?

Yes. FairSIM is data only. Leave your regular SIM active for calls and SMS with roaming data switched off, and use the eSIM for everything online.

What is an eSIM?

A SIM card built into your phone. Instead of a plastic chip, you download a profile. Every iPhone since the XS has one next to the physical SIM slot, so your home number stays put while FairSIM supplies the data.

Is my phone compatible?

FairSIM works with eSIM-compatible, carrier-unlocked iPhones: the XS, XR and everything newer, on iOS 17.4 or later for the one-tap install with no QR code. iPhones bought in mainland China do not support eSIM at all, even when unlocked. When should I install my eSIM?

Before you travel, while you still have Wi-Fi. Installing does not start your plan; the validity typically starts when the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination.

Do FairSIM eSIMs come with a phone number?

No. FairSIM eSIMs are data-only by design, which keeps costs low. For calls and texts, your physical SIM stays active so you keep your existing number, and WhatsApp, FaceTime and iMessage work over data.
